THE END OF THE AFFAIR (1999) ***

I enjoyed the way this movie unfolded. It was a multi-layered story taking place in WWII England, that only gives the people in the audience just enough information to keep them in the loop, and only slowly are we told the meaning behind the events that occur. My opinion and perception of these characters kept changing as new information was released. All three of the leads (Ralph Fiennes, Julianne Moore, and Stephen Rea) performed well, but none of them were spectacular. There was an strange sub-story of divine intervention and powers that seemed out of place. Final thought...not nearly as dull as “The English Patient”.
