FBMR - Glitter

If this movie had just about any other actress as the lead character, it would have been a much better movie. Mariah Carey just can’t act that well. It’s not laughably bad, just unfortunate. Her support cast is all right. The music is average, and the story is fine ... pretty predictable, but not as bad as the critics said it was.

Mariah Carey plays a girl gets her break as backup singer and ends up ghost-voicing the main singer. Her cover gets blown and Carey goes solo and eventually gets a recording contract thanks to her new boyfriend and producer. I believe this is based on a true story because it sounds oddly familiar.

It’s not anything to rush out and see, but if your first few choices in the video store are already out, this one is not bad.
