FBMR - Shopgirl

Steve Martin is one of my favourite comedians. I don’t like every one of the films he’s made, but I do enjoy his writing style. I’ve read a couple of his books and have been entertained. Martin write the screenplay for this movie, based on one of his novellas (one which I haven’t read). It’s a fair mix of both romantic comedy and drama.

The movie is about relationships, and centres around one girl (Claire Danes) who has two suitors. One suitor is young (Jason Schwartzman) and doesn’t seem to know how to act on a date, and the second is older (Steve Martin) who showers her with gifts, and does almost everything right.
