EVERYTHING YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT SEX (BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK) (1972) ***

No, this movie is not really a film adaptation of the infamous book, although David Reuben, author of the sex book, is creditted as co-writer. Rather it’s a Woody Allen film, and is a collection of skits that all have sex as the central theme. One of the skits dates back to the Middle Ages, while another takes place inside a male body; there’s also one that involves a sheep. Some of the skits are more strange than anything else, but the ones with Woody Allen are the funnier of the bunch. We even see what it would be like if he were cool and level-headed, rather than the typical neurotic character he so often plays.

Allen has some great bits in this film where he gets into some hilarious physical comedy. There are also about a million jokes, gags, one-liners thrown at you, half of which work, while the other half don’t. But that still means that there are a good half million funny lines in this movie.
